VP of Member Services - Nena Jackson, PMP

Nena has 20 years of experience in software development team management and project management.  Her experience includes technology projects primarily in the financial services industry but recently expanded to the health care industry where she currently works as a Project Manager for Benefitfocus.  Nena recently moved to Charleston from Columbus, Ohio where she was a VP of Technology for Huntington National Bank.  At Huntington, Nena managed a variety of IT project management and engineering teams for multiple business areas across the bank.  Prior to moving to Columbus Nena lived in Charlotte, NC and worked for First Union National Bank where she also managed multiple IT teams in the credit card division.

In June 2009 Nena had the opportunity to fulfill a dream and move to Charleston, SC after her and husband became empty nesters in June 2009.  Prior to joining Benefitfocus in September 2009 she applied her project management skills in a personal project of writing a book called, Toes in the Sand and is now working on the publishing aspect of this project.

Nena graduated from Troy State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  She earned her PMP in 2003.  In her free time she enjoys being very involved in her church and relaxing on the weekends in beautiful Charleston, SC.

VP of Member Services Position Description

All Officers are expected to attend and assist in the operation of every monthly Chapter lunch meeting and attend every monthly Board business meeting. This is a minimum time commitment of two lunch meetings per month.

The VP of Member Services shall be responsible for chairing and recruiting directors for the Membership Committee.  This committee is responsible for overseeing the delivery of all member services to the chapter membership including member programs and networking.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • To prepare and present an annual chapter members services plan to the President; for review and approval by the Board of Directors.
  • To appoint and direct the activities of the Membership Directors in delivery of all Member Services including, but not limited to:
    • Chapter meeting logistics including facility rental, name badges, attendance sheets and networking functions
    • Solicit and maintain job postings for member’s area of website
    • Maintain chapter membership database including member prospects
    • Promote new PMI membership and membership renewal
    • To develop and implement membership drive promotions
    • Deliver new member orientation
    • Manage and maintain LinkedIn.com group
  • To coordinate and deliver all chapter surveys including reporting of results
  • To develop and implement a member retention program that includes follow-up with each new member and each member that does not renew.
  • To present membership status and trends to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
  • To represent the chapter at local and national PMI functions, as well as at local businesses, service organizations, government and university functions.
  • To turn over all records to successor in a timely manner.
