VP of Communications - Regan Gardiner, PMP

Regan Gardiner serves Charleston's PMI Chapter as VP of Communications.  She currently volunteers her project management skills for local community projects while teaching technology courses.  Recently, she was Assistant Director for Information Technology Services at Trident Technical College where she managed teams of IT professionals responsible for supporting the College's diverse IT demands at their multiple campuses. 
 
Regan has managed technical teams as an IT Manager and managed technical projects for the Medical University of South Carolina and Federated Systems Group for Macy's and Bloomingdale's Department Stores. 

Her professional project management experiences are in the areas of information technology, law, retail, healthcare and higher education. 
 
Regan has a Bachelor's in Political Science from the College of Charleston and has recently obtained her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.  She enjoys volunteering for local community organizations and participating in sporting events with her children.

VP of Communications Position Description

 

All Officers are expected to attend and assist in the operation of every monthly Chapter lunch meeting and attend every monthly Board business meeting. This is a minimum time commitment of two lunch meetings per month.

The VP of Communications shall be responsible for chairing and recruiting directors for the Communications Committee.  This committee is responsible for producing and distributing all Chapter communications, regardless of medium (mail, email, website), to members, potential members, and external sources in support of general communication efforts and as needed to support the communication requirements of other Chapter Officers.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • To prepare and present an annual chapter communications plan to the President; for review and approval by the Board of Directors.
  • To appoint and direct the activities of the Communications Directors in delivery of all chapter communications and advertising including, but not limited to:
    • Electronic and Print Event Invitations
    • Electronic Newsletters
    • Media Announcements/Press Releases
    • Electronic and Print Chapter Marketing Materials
    • Electronic and Print Surveys
    • Web site maintenance and development
  • To coordinate public relations activities on behalf of the Board of Directors.
  • To provide marketing support to other chapter officers as needed to adequately advertise and promote chapter activities.
  • To represent the chapter at local and national PMI functions, as well as at local businesses, service organizations, government and university functions.
  • To turn over all records to successor in a timely manner.
